Lieutenant Colonel Matthew J. Streitz is a staff Emergency Medicine Physician with the 959 Inpatient Squadron, 59th Medical Wing, Joint Base San Antonio, San Antonio, Texas.  He currently serves at the Emergency Medicine Consultant to the Air Force Surgeon General.  He is a core faculty member within the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium (SAUSHEC) Emergency Medicine residency.  Lt Col Streitz will be assuming Command of the new 959 Emergency Services Squadron in May.

 

Lt Col Streitz was an active-duty RN in the Air Force for six years before completing medical school at the Uniformed Services University in 2011.  After his internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology he became a Flight Surgeon at Randolph AFB, Texas.  Following his time in Flight Medicine he completed his Emergency Medicine residency in San Antonio where he was able to remain as a staff physician.  He was the Flight Commander for the Family Emergency Center at Lackland AFB, TX prior to taking over as the Emergency Medicine Consultant.  He has had deployments to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, to United Arab Emirates in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and most recently to Holloman AFB, NM in support of Operations Allies Refuge and Operations Allies Welcome. 

 

 Lt Col Streitz is board-certified in Emergency medicine and is an Assistant Professor of Military and Emergency Medicine and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
